Coming to Barcelona and looking for the hype in the city? You definitely have to try Ají Restaurant. Located in the casino of the city, this restaurant run by three chefs (one Spanish, one Peruvian and another one Japanese) is becoming one of the favorites of the citizens thanks to its international proposal focused on Nikkei cuisine, a true hype in the city these days.
Makis, ceviches, marinated brochettes or wok dishes are just some of the proposals of these chefs, that they complete with the traditional Pisco Sour and some other cocktails and drinks.
Our favorites? You have to try the ‘Carretillero Ceviche’, made with sea bass and seafood in ‘Leche de tigre’ with ‘ají amarillo’ and fried squid; the creamy rice of Chupe (a creamy rice with sautéed “Ají” peppers and shrimp, soy beans, fresh cheese and poached egg) or the Lucume ice cream, topped with chocolate sauce.
Another one of the great things of Ají is the restaurant itself. Small and cozy, this spot offers you the possibility of watching the chefs while eating since it has an open kitchen and a bar where you will be able to taste some cold dishes and of course the sushi.
If you’re looking for a different gastronomical experience right in the heart of Barcelona (the casino is located at Vila Olímpica, very close to the sea), you definitely have to try Ají and its fusion proposal, a new place to discover in Barcelona if you’re a foodie inclined toward Nikkei cuisine.
